Baseball and a Bonus

We got more than we bargained for in St. Louis over the weekend. We had tickets to the Friday night game between the Cardinals and the Brewers.  My son, Evan, 16, is a huge fan and was really excited about seeing a game in the new Busch Stadium.

We got to town after 4 p.m. and by about 5:30 were making our way to the stadium, hoping to catch as much pre-game excitement as we could.  It had rained a bit, but by the time we got to the stadium (which is just spectacular), it was sunny.

We settled into our seats and got ready for the game. We could see the field, the city, the arch and something else, huge black clouds and a line of pelting rain as it moved toward us. The game was delayed and we got soaked. But in a matter of minutes, it had blown by.

We dried out, got our food, the game started, and then came the black clouds and a second sheet of rain moved toward us.  This time, we didn’t even move, figuring it, too, would pass.

It did, we dried out, the game went on, and here’s the bonus: A beautiful rainbow spread across the field before play resumed. (Evan took the photo.)

Sorry, no pot of gold. The Cards lost. But they beat the Brewers on Saturday.
