Lush lunching & learning

Here’s one of the best deals I’ve run across in a long time, at one of the resorts I’ve always yearned to visit. The lush Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain, named by Condé Nast Traveller as one of the best in the world, is offering a lunch & lean program that brings winemakers and chefs to the resort for a one-day seminar on a variety of gastronomic delights.

The resort’s executive chef, Beau MacMillan, joins forces each Saturday through September 1st with a wine maker or other chefs for interactive cooking demonstrations and wine and cocktail pairings. Each session ($65) features a three-course lunch and take-home recipes.

BUT – the real deal is this: For guests who pair a lunch & learn class with a Saturday evening stay, Sanctuary offers a special rate of $185 and complimentary suite upgrade.  The offer is valid through Sept. 1, 2007 and is subject to availability.

The resort is tucked into the side of the mountain; instead of rooms, guests spend their nights in charming casitas. There’s an indoor/outdoor Asian-inspired spa, an outdoor lap pool and infinity pool, tennis, biking and proximity to upscale galleries and shopping.
