A billboard I actually like.

soul.jpgUsually I think billboards are a blight on the landscape, but, zipping around the south loop yesterday I spotted this one, new from the New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau, and it brought a lump to my throat. The picture is of the redoubtable Leah Chase, owner/chef of Dooky Chase, a landmark restaurant in Treme that was lost to Katrina and has still not reopened. Chase lives in a FEMA trailer across the street as she works to resurrect her restaurant. Soul, indeed.

When were you last in Nola, and what did you see there? Where's your favorite, back-from-Katrina place to eat?
