Each year, I keep a chronological count and roll call of the movies that open in Memphis.

On Christmas Day, when the year's final two movies opened ("Dreamgirls" and "Black Christmas"), that count hit 387 - a fairly astonishing number, and a record for any year since I began keeping these lists in 1997.
